Pollen (palynology), the species identification of pollen, spores and other microfossils, also known as non-pollen palynomorphs (NPP). The latter category includes, among others, the spores of coprophilous fungi, algae, intestinal parasites and testate amoebae. This technique is used in order to obtain information about landscape and vegetation.
